Polymer combustion in hybrid propulsion systems

One PhD position is available at CRECK Modeling on Polymer combustion in hybrid propulsion systems. The PhD project focuses on the development of an integrated multiscale modeling framework for hybrid propulsion, coupling condensed-phase polymer behavior (melting, liquid-phase pyrolysis, volatile release), gas-phase combustion chemistry of degradation products, and heat transfer and flame-radiation feedback. The work will combine chemical kinetics, combustion modeling, and advanced CFD simulations, with applications to aerospace propulsion systems.

Duration: 3 years
Start date: 01 May 2026
Scholarship: approx. EUR 1,800 per month net, with mobility support for research stays abroad (up to 6 months)
